During the annual International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) Conference, Karolinska Institutet, one of the BETTER4U project partners, presented results from the BETTER4ALL pilot study.
The conference took place from 27 to 30 May in Cádiz, Spain. Its mission was to advance and promote innovative research in behavioural nutrition and physical activity to improve human and planetary health and well-being.
Obesity is influenced not only by individual behaviours but also by the environments in which people work and live. In many cases, modern environments promote sedentary behaviours and introduce barriers to healthy lifestyles, increasing the risk of obesity and non-communicable diseases. Understanding these challenges and the multifactorial nature of obesity is essential for developing personalised and sustainable obesity prevention strategies.
Addressing this need, the BETTER4ALL pilot study explored how digital tools can support personalised lifestyle interventions. Maria Fernanda Roco Rubio, a postdoctoral fellow at KI, presented a poster showcasing the results from the study, which was conducted across seven EU countries, including Sweden. They evaluated the usability, feasibility and acceptability of the BETTER4U mobile application and Intervention Platform, supported by AI and designed to provide personalised lifestyle recommendations to improve obesity care.
