Across summer 2026, the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) continued to promote BETTER4U alongside other Horizon Europe-funded projects addressing obesity at major European congresses in related health fields. Most recently, BETTER4U was highlighted to delegates visiting the EASO exhibition booth at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress 2026 in Munich and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting 2026 in Milan.
At both congresses, EASO also collaborated on scientific sessions addressing obesity. At ESC, sessions included:
- Weight bias and stigma: an overlooked driver of cardiovascular risk
- Pharmacological treatment of obesity
- Patient perspective on living with cardiovascular disease and obesity
At EASD, discussions focused on the EASO Framework for Obesity Management, as well as the EASO-EFAD-ECPO joint consensus statement on nutritional, functional and psychological considerations during obesity treatment.
Both congresses included experts from across EASO Working Groups and the wider European obesity community.
The close relationship between obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes reinforces the importance of BETTER4U’s research into the factors influencing individual obesity risk, and how this knowledge can support more personalised approaches to obesity prevention and management across Europe.
