The BETTER4U Pilot Study Protocol is now established!
Set to run from April 2025 to October 2025, the BETTER4U pilot study aims to assess the usability, feasibility, and acceptability of the BETTER4U mobile app and intervention platform before a large-scale rollout. The protocol for the BETTER4U Pilot Study has been finalised, and all participating sites of the study are now in the process of preparing their ethics applications.
Conducted across seven countries, the pilot study will involve two participant groups: end-users (general population) and healthcare implementers. Over a three-week period, end-user participants will record data on physical activity, diet, sleep, and environmental factors. They will be provided with smartwatches linked to the mobile app, where they will track these lifestyle behaviours and living environment indicators. Meanwhile, healthcare implementers test the intervention platform’s functionalities and AI-based recommendations.
The pilot will serve as an essential step in collecting data to refine and enhance the BETTER4U causal AI models aimed at preventing weight gain. Additionally, it will explore the most effective ways to deliver these AI-based interventions to participants.
Insights from the pilot will contribute to the next phase of the project, to enhance the tools for the upcoming personalised intervention trial (a randomized controlled trial, or RCT) that will be targeting weight management.
We are excited to begin this pilot study as a key measure to advancing BETTER4U’s mission to support personalised, scalable interventions for weight management and healthier living.
