Advancing Personalised Health & Therapy: BETTER4U at Santorini 2026

The 10+2 Santorini Conference on Systems Medicine, Personalised Health & Therapy, took place from May 26 to 28, 2026. Its theme: “The Odyssey from Hope to Practice: Patient First – keep Ithaca always in your mind,” reflected both the scientific challenges and the patient-centred purpose of personalised medicine.

As in previous years, the programme brought together international experts to discuss the latest advances and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across pharmacogenomics, multi-omics biomarkers, liquid biopsy, the use of AI in healthcare, integrated disease risk prediction, functional genomics, personalised lifestyle, obesity, diabetes, and 4P medicine (prediction, prevention, precision and participation).

Among the presentations focused on personalised strategies for obesity and diabetes, Harokopio University of Athens, one of the BETTER4U project partners, represented the project through a poster showcasing the BETTER4ALL pilot study. Marya Kafyra from the team presented key findings from the seven-country pilot study that integrates digital monitoring tools to support personalised obesity prevention. The main objective of the study was to assess the usability, feasibility, and acceptability of the BETTER4U App and the BETTER4U Intervention Platform. Supported by AI, the platform considers individual factors contributing to obesity and delivers personalised recommendations to help people live healthier lives.

The discussions and findings presented at the conference highlighted the growing potential of personalised medicine to improve patient care and treatment outcomes.
